Hey now.
Robert Sturm
Robert Arnold Sturm, Jr. is a radio "deejay" for the popular Dallas sports radio station 1310 AM "The Ticket" KTCK. One half of the BaD Radio show along with co-host Dan McDowell, Sturm is heard from 12:00 PM-3:00 PM.
Prior to working at The Ticket, Sturm attended college at Liberty University. After graduation, he hosted a show on radio station WLNI in Lynchburg, Virginia. He also conducted an interview with Detroit Tigers manager Sparky Anderson that recieved strong consideration for a Marconi Award nomination. After hearing the interview, reports surfaced that Dick Schaap made the proclamation "God looks upon us all with a smile of approval. He has sent the Messiah of sports journalism to the Earth, and his name is Bob Sturm."
In 1998, Sturm began his career at KTCK by working his own evening show, following the Hardline Regurgitated. Despite evenings on KTCK being a notoriously difficult time slot to generate respectable ratings, Sturm developed enough popularity to move to a better time slot, replacing Rocco Pendola on mid-days. This marked the beginning of Bad Radio, as Dan McDowell joined Sturm on the broadcast.
Considered the voice of authority on the show, Sturm is often referred to as "The Sports Bully". He once verbally assaulted a small dog for momentarily distracting co-host McDowell. He flaunts his sports knowlege in the face of listeners, and Sturminates any caller that challenges him, angrily proclaiming that he is "not some dude at the next cubicle over."
Sturm is a noted fan of athletes named Brett, most notably Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre and hockey legend Brett Hull. The latter, being a fan of the show, pulled a masterful prank on Sturm in 1999, claiming that Sturm had aired lies about him, and vowed never to speak to Sturm again. Ticket correspondant Corby Davidson reported that after this proclamation from Hull, Sturm wept bitterly and considered performing a public self-flagellation in an attempt to reclaim a spot back in Hull's good graces.
Although not a part of the "Five Musketeers" of The Ticket, Sturm (along with co-host McDowell) have developed enough popularity & longevity on their own show that Ticket tyrant Mike Rhyner has ceased in his attempts to constantly big-time them, along with his hourly calls for their firing to Ticket management.
While a regular church goer and an all-around good Christian, Sturm has written often (and frequently) in his top secret side blog that he would enter a forbidden Brokeback Mountain-esque relationship with Brett Favre if such a situation were to ever present itself. He has abstained from commenting on the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Bob lives in Lewisville, TX with his Mexican wife and his two children. He can often be found late nights trying to sneak into New Fine Arts undetected.
